Pakistan Institute of Public Finance Accountant (PIPFA) was constituted in the year 1993 jointly by Three (3) sponsoring bodies of Pakistan namely The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP), the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMAP) and the Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP). PIPFA is registered as a Non-profit Association under Section 42 of The Companies Ordinance, 1984. As an Associate member of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), PIPFA has attained global recognition as an Institution providing Professional Excellence to Public Accountants in Pakistan.
All the affairs of the Institute are managed by a Twelve (12) member Board of Governors (BOG) comprising elected and nominated members. Three (3) members are elected for tenure of Three (3) years by the general body and Three (3) members each are nominated by the sponsoring bodies’ i.e., ICAP, ICMAP and AGP.
PIPFA has more than 6,500 members all together including Associate and Fellow Members from Corporate as well as Public Stream, which are geographically disbursed to more than 40 Cities of Pakistan and more than 6 countries worldwide. In recognition of the outstanding professional standards, PIPFA is recognized by major accounting bodies including ICAP, ICMAP, ACCA & CIMA and reciprocal exemptions are available with these bodies as detailed in the exemptions section of this website. Further, in order to further promote the recognition of its members and students, PIPFA has entered into various MOUs with Private as well as Government Sector Universities & Colleges to provide reciprocal exemptions and entry routes to PIPFA qualification.
In recognition of the high professional standing of PIPFA, its members are eligible for the position of Company Secretary in the Public listed companies as per the criteria of the Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP). This opportunity opens up bright career opportunities within the corporate industry. In the Public Sector Organizations, PIPFA Qualification is mandatory for promotion and confirmation of audit and accounts department personnel to the post of BPS-17 which also demonstrates the high level of trust the Public Sector has reposed in the Institute.
PIPFA qualification provides abundant opportunities to its members in their pursuit of career development in a very short span of time and at very economical cost.
Eligibility for Admission
Students qualified Intermediate, A' Levels, DBA, CAT or any other qualification equivalent to intermediate can take admission in PIPFA. In case of public sector trainees they must be nominated by the competent authorities of the Government of Pakistan. Students have to study three levels (Foundation, Intermediate and Final) to pass all examinations of PIPFA. After passing the entire examinations one must have minimum three years relevant working experience to get the membership of the Institute. Thus the total period required to be fully fledged accounts professional after Intermediate is four and half years as compared to B.Com qualified individuals who study for two years after intermediate and are not considered being accountants.

- Must have passed the Intermediate, A-Level Examinations, CAT qualified, DBA or equivalent qualification. Bachelors or Masters Degree holders in any discipline of any Board/University or degree awarding institute recognized by the Government of Pakistan are entitled for exemptions. In case of Public Sector trainees they must be nominated by the competent authorities of the Government of Pakistan.
- Must have paid the prescribed Registration Fee.
- Must have paid the prescribed Annual Subscription.
- A registration card is issued to each registered student of the Institute.
